About Klee's Kaleidoscope

Snake Creeps Down

Klee's Kaleidoscope originated in year 2000 as a weekly newspaper column in what was then known as “The Llano Buzz,” serving Llano County, Texas. Four years later after the paper was bought out, I decided to go my own way and started this website where I could publish and comment on unreported, under-reported and erroneously reported local news, free of editorial censorship and commercial restraint - and with a sense of humor. As a consequence, Klee's Kaleidoscope ended up being the only government watchdog voice in Llano County.

Since the retaking of control of Congress by radical left-wing liberal Democrats, bolstered by RINOs, and President Barack Hussein Obama’s socialist agenda, I became deeply concerned about the future of my country. Accordingly, the articles and telecasts appearing in Klee’s Kaleidoscope have been expanded to cover state, national and international affairs that goes largely “unreported, under-reported and erroneously reported” by the mainstream media – without abandoning my primary mission as a “government watchdog in Llano County.”

My education and experience is not in the field of journalism. I am an attorney, arbitrator and mediator. I am licensed to practice in Texas and California, and am admitted to practice before the Fifth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. An Open Letter to Klee's Kaleidoscope Readers:

All good things must come to an end and so it is with Klee's Kaleidoscope at least a winding down.

Maintaining the website has simply gotten far too time consuming. I'll still maintain the website for awhile longer just to keep the "locals" honest. As they say, "Sunshine is the best disinfectant." But the time and aggravation of maintaining a regular on-going news and commentary website is no longer justified. I'd rather be practicing Taijiquan or a hundred other things that are more rewarding.

The aggravation started with Microsoft discontinuing their MS FrontPage software in 2007, the software I use to generate my website. I neither have the time nor interest in learning code language so I use "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get) software to design and maintain the website.

Several hosting companies began to discontinue the FrontPage server extensions necessary to host websites designed with FrontPage, requiring a transfer to a different hosting service and transfer of domain at the same time. This was only a temporary fix, however, until the new hosting service would also shut down its FrontPage support..

In the interim, I needed to purchase new "WYSIWYG" web design and development software and go through the learning process all over again. Realize, I have 5 websites that I've designed, developed and maintain on a regular basis!

To make matters worse, my computer took on some viruses and was never able to function properly thereafter even after doing a complete two re-installations of the original OS. All my files had to be re-loaded and programs re-installed. It was a royal pain.

That experience led to buying a new computer with Windows 7 installed and a new OS to learn but before I was able to transfer all my Kaleidoscope files over to the new computer, my old computer containing those files crashed again! The problem appears to be intrinsic so I'll end up scrapping the computer. Get out the sledge hammer - here comes the hard drive!

Eventually I'll be able to restore the website in the new format but after all this the old fire in the belly isn't there. Time is among the one precious commodities I have left and it's quickly becoming scarce.

I am able to publish from my new computer using the new website software and new hosting service. What you'll see is the new design. From time to time I'll post material to it and continue to e-mail out to my readers as new material is posted - it just won't be on a regular basis.

As if to "throw salt into and open wound," I'm unable to e-mail multiple addresses from an e-mail group. It seems my ISP upgraded their e-mail service and nothing works as good as before the "improvement."

Thank you for your readership and remember Klee's Laws (All quotes taken from Thomas Jefferson):

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
